COURSE DESCRIPTOR
HAZARDOUS AREA TRAINING COURSE A:

COURSE TITLE: Selection, Installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in Hazardous Areas.
DURTION AND VENUE: 5 days at Augustine Training Centres or Client facility.
DESCRIPTION: This course is designed for electrical workers, technicians and engineers involved with selection, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in Hazardous Areas.  It    covers the principles of Hazardous Area classification, explosion protection techniques, equipment selection, equipment installation requirements, inspections and procedures for breakdowns and maintenance.
ASSESSMENT: Competency Assessment.
COURSE OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of the course Statement of Attainment for the following Units of Competency will be issued:
UEENEEM001B – Report on the integrity of explosion-protected equipment in hazardous areas.
UEENEEM002B – Attend to breakdowns in hazardous areas.
UEENEEM004B – Install explosion-protected equipment and wiring systems.
UEENEEM006B – Maintain equipment in hazardous areas.
UEENEEM009B – Test installations in hazardous areas.
UEENEEM010B – Conduct close inspection of existing hazardous areas installation.
UEENEEM011B –  Inspect in detail hazardous area installations.
PREREQUISITE: Course Participants will require a minimum Certificate lll in Electrotechnology or equivalent. Candidates with tertiary electrical qualifications are eligible for award of Statement of Completion.

NOTES: Typically a minimum of 5 people is required to run the course.
   
COURSE TITLE: Hazardous Areas Selection, Installation and Maintenance Refresher. Course A Refresher.
DURATION AND VENUE: 2 Days at Augustine Training Centres or Client Facility.
DESCRIPTION: This course is designed as a Refresher (frequency rates recommended every two years) for electrical workers who have completed Course A or equivalent.  Training focuses on changes to Hazardous Areas Standards and revisits fundamentals of Hazardous Area Course A, particularly on inspections and testing.
OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of the course a Statement of Completion will be issued.
PREREQUISITE: Statement of Attainment in Course A or equivalent.
   
COURSE TITLE: HAZARDOUS AREA TRAINING COURSE A: Hazardous Area Awareness.
DURATION AND VENUE: 2 Days at Augustine Training Centres or Client Facility.
DESCRIPTION: This course is designed for electrical and non electrical participants. It covers the legislative requirements of hazardous area installations and provides an overview of the relevant standards.  It delivers an introduction to explosion-protected equipment and explains how to interpret hazardous area classification drawings and equipment markings.  Occupational Health and Safety issues such as toxicity, fatigue management are also covered.

COMPETENCY OUTCOMES: Upon successful completion of the course a Statement of Completion will be issued.
